6 Things to Get You Geared Up For 2023

December 2022

At this time, we are all very familiar with the notion of, “new year, new me.” Some tend to shake their heads in dismay thinking there’s no point because people don’t stick to it beyond the first month. While others embrace it and get charged up at the thought and preparation of stepping into the new year. I personally am the latter. Just like everyone else, I enjoy the holidays and gifts and the giving, but I sincerely look forward to a fresh new year. It is a distinct starting point and I love that! So for a short moment, (because I know we are all still in holiday mode and are running on borrowed time), appease me. If you are not, at least pretend you are like me, and you love a fresh new year that feels like there are endless possibilities in the year to come.

I have a few things I’d like to encourage you with as you step across the threshold into the new year. Here are 6 things to get you geared up and ready to do the new thing in 2023:

1.) Forget what lies behind in 2022 and look hopefully forward. If there were painful or difficult moments that took place in 2022, I encourage you to let them go, forget them and expectantly walk into 2022 believing the best is yet to come in 2023! Philippians 3:13 TPT, “I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead.”

2.) Repent over misses, drops, disobediences. God’s grace is sufficient! Ask for forgiveness where you missed it this year and allow Him to clear the path forward for a fresh start into the new year! Acts 3:19 AMPC, “So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord.”

3.) Make a vision list for the new year. Be specific and give detail. Research shows that the people that write down their visions and goals are way more likely to actually accomplish them! Habakkuk 3:2 NKJV, “Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”

4.) Declare the end from the beginning! Jeremiah 29:11 AMPC says, “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” We know looking forward we can expect the goodness of God in our year ahead. Likewise, we can speak those things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17). We can do this from the beginning to shape the end! Isaiah 46:10 AMPC, “Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose.”

5.) Expect greatness for the year ahead! Your faith is like a hand that reaches out and grabs what grace made available. Grace made the Blessings available to you so expect the Blessing to come to pass in your year! Matthew 9:29 TPT, “Then Jesus put his hands over their eyes and said, “You will have what your faith expects!”

6.) Be refreshed! Sometimes we come to the end of the year and we feel a bit beat down from the past month’s events. But as spirit-filled believers we have the opportunity to allow the Holy Spirit to REFRESH us! Ask Him to refresh you mentally, physically and spiritually. He is your strength to help you walk with your head held high into the new year! Isaiah 41:10 NLT, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

I am praying over your year ahead! I declare that every solution and breakthrough comes! I decree that every need is met and completely taken care of this year! And I pray that every desire of your heart comes to pass in 2023. Get your game face on and walk into 2023 strengthened and ready to receive God’s good plan of blessing!

I like to close each teaching with an invitation to salvation for anyone that has not yet welcomed Jesus into their life. Maybe you’ve read this and felt a pull on your heart. Maybe you’re in a place where you just need a solution. If so, this was meant for you and if you’re ready for the “moreness” of God, then believe in your heart and say out loud the following prayer: “Jesus, I repent for my sins, please forgive me for living a life apart from You. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins and were raised to life again. I confess you as Lord over my life. Take my life and do something with it. And I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name amen.”

It’s as simple as that. Welcome to the family! That is solely the most important decision you will ever make. If you prayed that prayer, please send us an email and let us know. We would love to help get you connected to a Life-filled church in your area and help you get started on your journey of “moreness” with God.
