Eyes Up

March 2023

I’d like to give you a simple shot of hope this week. If you are facing something right now that is stealing your peace or making you feel hopeless or has you constantly thinking “how will I ever get out of this?”. If you have Jesus, that is all you need. God knew ahead of time every single factor in the situation you’re walking through. He had a plan for your rescue before the foundations of the world. He has a plan that takes every facet into consideration. There is not one thing that surprised Him. His love and care for you is immense. His desire for your welfare is complete. He is in motion as you sit and read this. Now what you need to do is get your eyes up and on Jesus and off of the hurt, the issues, the circumstances. Just simply look at Jesus.

When you feel sad, overwhelmed, hurt or whatever it is you’re feeling, turn to the Savior and say “Jesus I need you.” Tell Him that He is the only One that can fix this. Recall to yourself the past times that He came through for you. When you recall His faithfulness your faith is strengthened to believe He will be faithful again.

We simply need to keep our eyes on Jesus. This is not a super deep thing, but it is everything we need. Our thoughts can be filled with confusion and doubt from the millions of ways we can go in circles about what it is we are facing, but the One that clears all confusion is Jesus. When we look at Him in the midst of wind and waves, we may not be able to completely see the answers or how the confusion will be cleared up or how the problems will be fixed. BUT when we look at Jesus, we may not know the ‘how’, but we have deep ‘knowing’ that it will be done. All you need is Jesus.

Maybe you are new to knowing Jesus or maybe you don’t know Him at all. Either way I invite you to the table to receive Him into your situation. If you do not know Jesus and want to, there is a prayer below that will be your starting place. Once you have crossed that line over into receiving Him into your life you can now allow Him to enter your situation to be your everything you need to come out the other side.

If you need some help getting your eyes on Jesus here are some ways:

  • His Word- We are incredibly blessed to hold the very Words of God in our hands to read at any time. His Word is Jesus so when you read the Word your eyes are directly on Jesus.

  • His presence- Jesus is a real person so you can actually be in His presence. You can feel Him and hear Him and be directly with Him. Put worship music on. Kneel on the ground at His feet. Close your eyes and use your God created imagination to lock eyes with the Savior. Let your tears fall on His feet and let His love lift your heart. He is real and He longs to be your everything.

  • Pray- God desires to be your closest confidant. He wants to be the first person you turn to and talk to. Just like you would turn to a close friend or a spouse or a parent to talk about what you are facing, God wants to be that first person for you. God knows your situation already because He knows all things. But just like Jesus asked the blind man what He wanted Him to do for him, already knowing he was blind, He wants us to tell Him our problems and confide in Him. So tell Him how you feel, what hurts, what is bothering you. He is your safe place and ever-listening ear. Talk to Him and He will answer.

  • Pray in the Spirit- Telling God about our problems in our own words is great. But have you ever felt like you were at a loss for words? Like you feel so overwhelmed or so lost that there seemed to be no words to express? Pray in the prayer language you received when you were baptized in the Holy Spirit. You don’t have to have your own words because the Holy Spirit is praying for you, and through you. You are praying God’s perfect will over what you are facing and what could be better than that? (If you are not yet baptized in the Holy Spirit that is okay! It is super simple. It is the most powerful tool you can receive after getting born again. You can look back at my “Get to Know the Holy Spirit” series on the blog to learn more and to receive that baptism of the Holy Spirit. It’s just as easy as getting saved!)

  • Recount His faithfulness- When it feels like your situation is too hard for even God to figure out, look back at His track record. When we look at God’s past faithfulness in our own lives or other’s lives, we are strengthened to believe He can do it again. And when we are looking at what Jesus did before we have our eyes right on Him.

Hebrews 12:2-3, TPT, “We look away from the natural realm and we focus our attention and expectation onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his,  he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God! So consider carefully how Jesus faced such intense opposition from sinners who opposed their own souls,  so that you won’t become worn down and cave in under life’s pressures.”

I like to close each teaching with an invitation to salvation for anyone that has not yet welcomed Jesus into their life. Maybe you’ve read this and felt a pull on your heart. Maybe you’re in a place where you just need a solution. If so, this was meant for you and if you’re ready for the “moreness” of God, then believe in your heart and say out loud the following prayer: “Jesus, I repent for my sins, please forgive me for living a life apart from You. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins and were raised to life again. I confess you as Lord over my life. Take my life and do something with it. And I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name amen.”

It’s as simple as that. Welcome to the family! That is solely the most important decision you will ever make. If you prayed that prayer, please send us an email and let us know. We would love to help get you connected to a Life-filled church in your area and help you get started on your journey of “moreness” with God.
