Find Your Sweet Spot In Life

April 28, 2023

Time is ticking and it’s ticking fast! We are currently living on borrowed time- “grace time!” We were all created with a specific call and a specific purpose with desires and talents that came from God. We like things because God created us that way. He made each of us unique, especially to touch all the different facets of this world! We must find our sweet spot that we were made for and do it for the glory of God. Many of us had been taught to go to college for a major that would get us a decent paying job with good benefits. Some of us asked God what that should be, while others have done what sounded like a good path that would create a comfortable future. Maybe we fell into something because it was supposed to be a temporary solution and got stuck. Maybe at one point we had dreams and goals and desires for our lives, but life’s circumstances seemed to get in the way. Believers need to go back and take up those desires and dreams that were once on their hearts because they were put there for a specific reason to accomplish a heavenly goal. We need to no longer ignore or forget those God-given dreams and talents. We must resurrect them from the dead and walk in them so when we get to the end of this life we can confidently say, “I did all that You called me to do.”

I know sometimes it can seem like we are too far down the road to make a change. We may think that too much time has passed or we spent too much of our resources to be where we are today. Maybe we look at it as a wasteful thing, but God can reimburse any amount of time or money spent. It is time for us to pull a “Sarah and Abraham” kind of shift on our lives. They were definitely mature in years before their greatest adventures even began! Read this in Genesis 12:1-9, NLT, “The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all his wealth—his livestock and all the people he had taken into his household at Haran—and headed for the land of Canaan. When they arrived in Canaan, Abram traveled through the land as far as Shechem. There he set up camp beside the oak of Moreh. At that time, the area was inhabited by Canaanites. Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the Lord, who had appeared to him. After that, Abram traveled south and set up camp in the hill country, with Bethel to the west and Ai to the east. There he built another altar and dedicated it to the Lord, and he worshiped the Lord. Then Abram continued traveling south by stages toward the Negev.” Abraham was 75 when he finally stepped out into the biggest calling God had on his life! Both Abraham and Sarah began here in their most blessed stages of life.

Maybe you are in a career that you know isn’t for you. You dread work and live for the weekends and feel like your passion is not being met. But when you think about the thing you know you were created to do it seems like a lost cause because maybe it would take some years of schooling or finances to make it happen. So you think it isn’t worth it to pursue it. Here’s the thing, whether or not you spend the next 4-6 or even 10 years pursuing your dream in school or whatever it takes, the time will still pass. SO you can spend the next decade stuck where you are or you can walk into the blessing of the Lord. Either way the time will pass, you will be 10 years older in 10 years. As for the finances- if you believe in our God you must believe that He does big things. I heard it best this way when God called you to do something- “God didn’t tell you to pay for it, He told you to believe for it!”

The Bible says when we get to the end of our lives we will stand face to face with God and we will have to account for all the things we did and did not do in our lives. So wouldn't you rather be able to say, “I did all that you asked me to do?" Read this in 2 Corinthians 5:10, AMPC, “For we must all appear and be revealed as we are before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive [his pay] according to what he has done in the body, whether good or evil [considering what his purpose and motive have been, and what he has achieved, been busy with, and given himself and his attention to accomplishing].”

Maybe you are right where you have been called to be and that is amazing! My challenge for you is to have a constant prayer to the Lord of, “God what’s next for me?” There will ALWAYS be more for you on this earth until the day you cross over into eternity. It will never slow down or lessen because the Bible says we go from glory to glory, (2 Corinthians 3:18). It also says in Deuteronomy 33:25, NKJV, “Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be.” Maybe you are feeling lost or frustrated and you know there is more for you. I want to encourage you that there is more and you can have it. Get with God and examine what you like, what you don’t like. What do you daydream about? Ask yourself the question, “If money was no issue and you were your most brave and fearless self- what would my dream job be?” Start to take the steps to get there. You can start small. Do the research, apply, sow a seed and believe for the money. Talk to people that are doing the thing you want to do and receive counsel. It is possible. Matthew 19:26, AMPC, “But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men this is impossible, but all things are possible with God.”

I like to close each teaching with an invitation to salvation for anyone that has not yet welcomed Jesus into their life. Maybe you’ve read this and felt a pull on your heart. Maybe you’re in a place where you just need a solution. If so, this was meant for you and if you’re ready for the “moreness” of God, then believe in your heart and say out loud the following prayer: “Jesus, I repent for my sins, please forgive me for living a life apart from You. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins and were raised to life again. I confess you as Lord over my life. Take my life and do something with it. And I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name amen.”

It’s as simple as that. Welcome to the family! That is solely the most important decision you will ever make. If you prayed that prayer, please send us an email and let us know. We would love to help get you connected to a Life-filled church in your area and help you get started on your journey of “moreness” with God.
