How to Stand in the Midst of Your Battle & See the Victory- GET YOUR FIGHT ON

January 2023

Let’s talk about how to stand in the midst of your trial. It can be so easy to think how we will react in faith when a trial comes, before it’s actually here. But how do we really stand when the wind and the waves seem to be the end all be all. Well first of all, it is time to stare back in the face of satan and say “It’s on!” I am so tired of letting satan bring hell to people’s lives and sitting back and waiting for it to pass. Or saying some prayers just hoping God will listen. It’s time to start making demands and make sure satan knows exactly who he is and exactly his position in comparison to us. I’m tired of letting him bring stuff across my path and letting him get away without any repercussions. So this week I want to empower you to stand and keep on standing in the midst of your battle.

1.) Identify who is really at fault

So many times believers want to say “why God, why are you letting this happen?” and places their anger and frustration on God. When they should be tracking down the true perpetrator and making him pay for it. John 10:10, AMPC, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” The thief (i.e. satan) is the one that comes and brings calamity to the lives of believers, not God. God came to be the solution and rescue to all the crap that satan pulls in this world. So first things first, stop placing the blame where it shouldn’t be and shift your anger and frustration over onto satan the real target.

2.) Speak the Word ONLY

Words are a creative force. They have the ability to create, change, build up, tear down, and move mountains. I’ve taught on the importance of words before. I’ll keep teaching it until the day Jesus comes back because it is the most powerful weapon we have. I am highly aware that in the face of a tragedy there are so many natural worldly words that will fly around. Doctors will speak the natural facts that they see with their natural eyes. Your financial situation will cause you and others to speak about what the bank account says. Depression and emotional trauma can push you and the professionals treating you to just talk about how circumstances feel and seem right this second. BUT it is your responsibility to change the narrative. You must get in that Bible and start speaking OUT LOUD what it says about you and your situation. If you want your circumstances to continue down the road they're going, then let yourself, the doctors and those around you continue to speak about the natural facts. BUT if you’re ready to change the course and move mountains then you better start speaking the living Word of the almighty God. His Words are Spirit and they are life (John 6:63). And they are alive and working (Hebrews 4:12). When the doctors come into the room and start talking, immediately use your words and plead the blood of Jesus over their report and cleanse the atmosphere of those death filled words. “In Jesus’ Name I plead the blood of Jesus over every word that came from the doctor’s mouths and I cleanse them and this atmosphere NOW in Jesus Name!” Don’t let them linger and have the opportunity to plan the path for you. Then do not allow yourself to continually speak those natural words. That might be the facts in the natural, but I promise you that THE Truth of the Word of God is higher and more powerful than any word from a doctor and financial institution or lie from the enemy. Thank God for the promises in His Word and CONTINUOUSLY declare them over what you’re looking at.

3.) When the pressure comes in- do something different!

I know that when you are facing something that seems insurmountable, satan is constantly there putting pressure on you in your mind. It can make you feel paralyzed under the weight of the lies. In those moments do something different to shake it off. If you’re sitting, stand up and pray in the Spirit. If you're laying in bed restless, get up, go downstairs and worship. If you feel antsy and lost, go on a run. Get out from under the pressure. It may feel like you have to stay there, but you don’t! He that is in you, is GREATER than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

4.) PRAISE GOD and BE THANKFUL

A lot of times when we are in the midst of the difficulty the last thing we want to do is praise and thank the Lord. But when you do, it’s something that shows satan you still believe God and you’re not backing down. Praise is powerful! It shakes us free and glorifies God. In Acts we read the story of Paul and Silas in prison. They were in what seemed like a pretty bad situation and they didn’t really have a solution. But, even in the midst of it they passionately praised and worshiped the Lord. In the middle of their praising there was an earthquake and their chains were loosed and they were freed! Acts 16:26, NLT, “Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!” Even if there are a million things that are going wrong, thank God for the one thing that is going right. It helps shift our focus and when someone is grateful to you, it makes you feel more moved to do more for them. The same is with God: a thankful heart in a person moves the heart of God. Hebrews 13:15-16 NLT, “Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.”

5.) Build yourself up in faith

When we face hard stuff we need to constantly be refueling our faith. We need to consume the Word of God and pray in the Spirit. When we are using our faith to stand and see the goodness of God come to pass we are using the resource and need to fill back up. So get the Word going in your ears through podcasts and youtube videos. Get your eyes on the Word by reading it. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Romans 10:17, AMPC, “So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).” Another thing that builds us up and reinvigorates our faith is praying in tongues. It’s a life source and we need to tap into it. Jude 1:20, APMC, “But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;”

6.) Be careful over who you tell about your situation & cast out the spirit of unbelief and fear

When we are facing an impossible situation, it matters who we let in close. Other people’s words and unbelief can affect the situation we are in. We see this in the story of Jesus raising Jairus’ daughter. When Jesus got to Jairus’ house, He told those who were mourning and making fun of Jesus’ faith to leave. Their spirit of unbelief had to be removed to make room for the faith of the healer to bring a miracle. He also only permitted Peter, James, and John to accompany Him to the scene. These were His close and trusted disciples that would bring faith with them. Mark 5:35-42, NLT, “While he was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.” But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” Then Jesus stopped the crowd and wouldn’t let anyone go with him except Peter, James, and John (the brother of James). When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw much commotion and weeping and wailing. He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”The crowd laughed at him. But he made them all leave, and he took the girl’s father and mother and his three disciples into the room where the girl was lying. Holding her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, get up!” And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.” So carefully pick and choose to tell only those who you know for a fact will speak life and only life to your situation. Do not give an opening to unbelief to speak and cloud the situation. There are many “believers” that carry the spirit of unbelief. So be sure to identify that. If there are those that you must tell, but they are those that will not speak life, then protect the details and share sparingly. We also learn from this story that we need to cast fear out. Fear will paralyze faith. Fear is the opposite of faith and gives power to the enemy in a situation just like faith gives God the place to move. So like Jesus said fear not, believe only.

7.) Pray the will of God constantly

The best way to do this is to pray in the Spirit. Like we learned in the “Get to Know the Holy Spirit” series, praying in tongues is us praying the perfect will of God because the Holy Spirit is praying through us. I know firsthand, that when you’re are in the middle of something that seems too big or too impossible, it can be very difficult to have the right words to pray. But that is why the gift of praying in tongues is so necessary. You can constantly be praying in the Holy Spirit and letting the perfect will of God come out of your mouth over your circumstances. Romans 8:26-27, NLT, “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.”

8.) Put on your armor- this is a fight!

Get yourself prepared day by day to fight this battle. Look at Ephesians 6 and literally stand up and act like you're putting on touchable armor. Ephesians 6:10-19, NLT, “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.”

9.) Kick satan’s butt!

That loser is the one that put the target on your back in the first place so don’t let him get away unscathed! Tell satan who he is and the future he is looking at. He IS, right now, currently, a defeated foe who was stripped of ALL power. Jesus took back all authority and power from satan in this world, and handed it back over to us! (Colossians 2:14-15). So tell him that, remind him of that embarrassing defeat. Also, the only future he has is one of pain and no hope for eternity. So make sure to keep him reminded of that. Lastly, what does the devil hate the most? When Christians start sharing Jesus with people! So what better way to beat up the devil than to start telling about Jesus. If you're spending time in hospitals, start going up to people and telling them about Jesus and praying for their healing! Wherever you are, start sharing the good news of the gospel, that will be the biggest thing that satan hates. Tell satan that “the more he pushes, the more you’re going to tell about Jesus so you better stand down!”

10.) Stand and keep on standing

“...Having done all the crisis demands, stand firmly in your place!” Ephesians 6:12, AMPC. This is where the good fight of faith comes in (1 Timothy 6:12). When the circumstances look like they aren’t shifting and won’t any time soon, stand. When the pressure seems too much and your faith seems to be running out, stand. When it seems like your back is up against a wall and there’s no solutions left, stand. Stand: keep the frustration on the devil and not God, speak the Word only, get out from under the pressure, praise and be thankful, keep your faith built up, keep out the spirit of unbelief and fear and the unbelieving words of others, pray in the Spirit, keep your armor on, and keep kicking satan’s loser butt! Also remember this comforting promise found in 2 Timothy 2:13, TPT, “But even if we are faithless, he will still be full of faith, for he never wavers in his faithfulness to us!” Rely on Jesus who is faithful even in the moments we aren’t. His grace floats us to the other side. So lean and rest on Him. When the lies try to press into your thoughts say to those thoughts “No, that is not my thought and that will not happen to me!” then say what the Bible says. You are capable to stand and believe to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! (Psalm 27:13).

I have a personal understanding of being in an impossible situation and having to get my fight on and stand. So I can empathize with where you are. But this I prophecy over our battles today “We will come out the other side of this with the victory. This is NOT how we go out, our God would not let us here to die in our circumstances. Our God is better and mightier than that! Jesus Christ our Savior has already secured our victory and I refuse to allow us to be defeated. We are the winners, we never lose. I trust Jesus with our battles. Our God is good and His mercy endures forever!”

I am standing with you always. Stand strong, don’t give in. If you have to get mad, then get mad at the devil. Do what you gotta do to get your fight on. You are not going out like this. Jesus is faithful to the finish. You will live and not die and declare the good works of God: Psalm 118:17, AMPC, “I shall not die but live, and shall declare the works and recount the illustrious acts of the Lord.”

I like to close each teaching with an invitation to salvation for anyone that has not yet welcomed Jesus into their life. Maybe you’ve read this and felt a pull on your heart. Maybe you’re in a place where you just need a solution. If so, this was meant for you and if you’re ready for the “moreness” of God, then believe in your heart and say out loud the following prayer: “Jesus, I repent for my sins, please forgive me for living a life apart from You. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins and were raised to life again. I confess you as Lord over my life. Take my life and do something with it. And I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name amen.”

It’s as simple as that. Welcome to the family! That is solely the most important decision you will ever make. If you prayed that prayer, please send us an email and let us know. We would love to help get you connected to a Life-filled church in your area and help you get started on your journey of “moreness” with God.
