Let's Talk About Love

May 5, 2023

Love is the source and reason for all of everything. God is love and love is God. God and love are interchangeable. You cannot have one without the other and any time you see “love” mentioned in the Word I suggest you try placing “God” in its place and vice versa. The love of God is something that has become very common to many of us. We know God loves us and we know His love is unmatchable. Over time, however, that truth can lose its luster in our lives. Since it is something we are very familiar with, we can risk treating this revelation as common and losing the weightiness of it. We can not allow the love of God to become something ordinary. When we truly allow the revelation of the love that God has for us, fear melts away and our lives are ignited with fervor.

Let’s take a look at what the Word has to say about love. Read 1 John 4:7-11 TPT. “Those who are loved by God, let His love continually pour from you to one another because God is love. Everyone who loves is fathered by God and experiences an intimate knowledge of Him. The one who doesn’t love has yet to know God, for God is love. The light of God’s love shined within us when He sent his matchless Son into the world so that we might live through Him. This is love: He loved us long before we loved Him. It was His love, not ours. He proved it by sending His Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins. Delightfully loved ones, if He loved us with such tremendous love, then “loving one another” should be our way of life!” Think about a person in your life that you have no doubt that they love you. Think about how they treat you, how they speak to you, what they do for you, how they follow through for you, how they make you feel, and how they make you view yourself and your capabilities. Even though this person loves you so well, I’m sure there have been moments where they have failed you in some capacity. Our God of Love is a perfect love without any faults or failures. He is always present, always loving, not missing a single beat of complete love and passion for you. When you think of that person that you know without a doubt loves you, consider the idea of multiplying their love by infinity and that still does not even come close to the immensity and perfection of the love of God. This can be challenging to fully understand because we see through the lens of human love. In your quiet time, I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to let this revelation penetrate deep into your heart. Ask and He will do it.

As we begin to see life and circumstances through the lens that our almighty God, LOVE, LOVES us, then the fear of bad things happening, the fear of missing it, the fear of failure, the fear of sickness, the fear of dying, the fear of losing, the fear of ANYthing begins to disappear. When we realize that we have a God who directs our steps and He loves us intensely then we rest in His love knowing that His great love is more powerful than any pointless plot of satan. Love is what conquered satan once and for all. Love was the motivating factor in God’s grand plan to get us back. And love is what fueled Jesus to the very end of His time here on the earth. When we fear we give an opening to satan in our lives. Fear works with satan the way faith works with God. When satan brings thoughts of destruction and a devastating end to us and we begin to fear, we then turn the power over to him. I propose the best way to get over fear is to trust in the love of God. When you let Love into your thoughts and life you begin to rest knowing that, if God loves me this much then He would not let any terrible thing grasp my life. We then rest in love and fear is demolished and in turn, we close the door to satan. Let’s read about this in 1 John 4:18, AMPC, “There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection].”

To really let the understanding of the love of God sink in, let’s read this very powerful passage in Ephesians. Ephesians 3:16-20, TPT, “So I kneel humbly in awe before the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, the perfect Father of every father and child in heaven and on the earth. And I pray that he will unveil within you the unlimited riches of his glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power. Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life. Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God! Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.” It’s all about love. This scripture tells us that the love of God is to be the “source and root of our lives.” That means everything in our lives is to come from that. ALL that we are and all that we do comes from love. The love of God is what brings forth the overflow of His power, His goodness, and His exponential blessing in every area of life. This passage always gets me so stirred up about His love. I encourage you to pray this passage over you and your family so that the revelation of His love can grow so big on the inside of you and overflow into every area of life!

As we wrap up here, read through 1 John. It is a super short book and an easy read. Circle all the “love/loves/loved” that it says. Read it daily for a few weeks straight. Begin to let the Word of God show you His true love. Then you will overflow and spread this love to others and satan’s hands will be tied in bringing fear across your path. This God kind of love must not be common or ordinary to us so we don’t allow our love walk to fade.

I like to close each teaching with an invitation to salvation for anyone that has not yet welcomed Jesus into their life. Maybe you’ve read this and felt a pull on your heart. Maybe you’re in a place where you just need a solution. If so, this was meant for you and if you’re ready for the “moreness” of God, then believe in your heart and say out loud the following prayer: “Jesus, I repent for my sins, please forgive me for living a life apart from You. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins and were raised to life again. I confess you as Lord over my life. Take my life and do something with it. And I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name amen.”

It’s as simple as that. Welcome to the family! That is solely the most important decision you will ever make. If you prayed that prayer, please send us an email and let us know. We would love to help get you connected to a Life-filled church in your area and help you get started on your journey of “moreness” with God.
