Let's Talk About Love- A Step Further

May 12, 2023

We talked last week about God’s love for us and how it should be something very special to us. We also talked about when we truly grasp the love that God has for us, then it changes our outlook, our lives, and our outcomes. When we really begin to grasp the love of God for us we will begin to overflow with that love. Because His love is just way over the top, it’s too much to handle, in the very best way! Sometimes we just have to sit and meditate on the love that God has for us. God loves us just as much as He loves Jesus! That is so crazy to think about! When we begin to overflow with the love of God then that love has to go somewhere. Where does that love go when it is overflowing in our lives? It goes to those around us in our lives. So it is crucial for us to begin to bask in the love of God. It is so necessary for us to take the time to allow His love to go from common and something we believe in passing, to an active ingredient in our lives. It is not just about us, the love of God has to be shown through us to others. We are God’s conductors of His love in this world. Our relationships and actions towards others is one of the main ways that people experience God’s love. Also remember this, when we see “love” in the Bible we can also replace that word with “God”. And when we see “God” in the Bible we can insert “love” in its place because God is love and Love is God. You cannot have God apart from love and you cannot have love apart from God because He is the source of it. See this in 1 John 4:7, TPT, “Those who are loved by God, let his love continually pour from you to one another, because God is love. Everyone who loves is fathered by God and experiences an intimate knowledge of him.”

Love works both ways. We receive love and we give love. There are many verses about loving others. Love is what Jesus calls the greatest commandment. We are to first love our creator God and then secondly we are called to love others. Read this in Matthew 22:37-39, TPT, “Jesus answered him, “‘Love the Lord your God with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, and with every thought that is within you.’ This is the great and supreme commandment. And the second is like it in importance: ‘You must love your friend in the same way you love yourself.’” It says something that the when asked what the greatest commandement was, Jesus answer with “love the Lord your God with all that you have.” Our God is love and as much as He loves to give love, He longs to be loved by the ones He loves! He desires this so much that He placed this is the very first commandment to have His children make a conscious effort to show Him love. We should pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help us love our God with everything we have. He has done absolutely everything for us and He deserves the very best of us!

We must first receive love in order to give it. When we are filled with the love of God then we love others in return. The love of God is too immense to keep in our private lives. It overflows into our relationships, to strangers, and even to our enemies. Like we mentioned earlier, we are the conductors of God’s love in the earth. It is up to us to show His love to the people in this world! Unsaved people only know the limited love of humans, so when they come in contact with the God-kind of love their lives change. They come in contact with the very thing that their soul has been longing for their entire lives, they just haven't known what it was they were longing for. This opens the door for us to share Jesus with them. This is why it is so important that we find the importance in making sure God’s love is flowing all through our lives. It makes an eternal difference in the lives of the people we come in contact with.

I challenge you to pray and ask God to continue to let the revelation of His love to pour and pour until it is overflowing! Ask Him to help you show His love to every single person that comes across your path. He is love, so He is just waiting for you to let Him pour more and more and more! It will never run out there will always be more to the love of God for you and for others through you!

I like to close each teaching with an invitation to salvation for anyone that has not yet welcomed Jesus into their life. Maybe you’ve read this and felt a pull on your heart. Maybe you’re in a place where you just need a solution. If so, this was meant for you and if you’re ready for the “moreness” of God, then believe in your heart and say out loud the following prayer: “Jesus, I repent for my sins, please forgive me for living a life apart from You. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins and were raised to life again. I confess you as Lord over my life. Take my life and do something with it. And I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name amen.”

It’s as simple as that. Welcome to the family! That is solely the most important decision you will ever make. If you prayed that prayer, please send us an email and let us know. We would love to help get you connected to a Life-filled church in your area and help you get started on your journey of “moreness” with God.
