Pray Your Way Through Ephesians- Eph. 5

I love love love Ephesians! I can feel the Holy Spirit speaking through the words with such grace and love showing me the foundations of how to successfully live a life with Christ. If praying through Ephesians has made you want to read through Ephesians, I encourage you to take time before you read to pray in the Spirit and ask Him to teach you the depth of each lesson. It can be so easy to read it at face value and think “oh that’s good” and agree with it. But it’s another thing to truly get the depths of the truths that are in each lesson. Let’s jump into praying through Ephesians 5 together!

Ephesians 5 SUMMARY

In this chapter Paul continues to stress the value of love and walking in love through the journey of our lives. He again explains the way those who are of the world live and warns us to stay away from this way of living. I was really moved by this one verse in particular Ephesians 5:8-11 NIV “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” When I read, “find out what pleases the Lord,” I immediately experienced an intense desire rise up in my heart to literally figure out what pleases the Lord! I hope it does the same for you. We will greatly emphasize this in our prayer today. Paul goes on to speak to the household and other positions people hold in life, and explains how to successfully act in those positions. Let’s pray Ephesians 5 over ourselves together.

Ephesians 5 PRAYER

Father, in Jesus’ Name, I come today before you boldly. Thank You so much for Your Word that you gave us to enable us to live a life of power and love and in a way that helps us to be more and more like You. I ask for a fresh revelation of Your love in a way that fills me and causes me to walk in love with those around me. Help me to understand the importance of this. Thank you Father for Your grace that teaches us the righteous way of living that produces blessing in our lives. I open my heart to Grace to be taught daily how to live righteously and correctly based on Your Word and not based on the culture around me.

Father, it is my greatest desire to determine what pleases You and to live in that way. Reveal to me what pleases Your heart! Cause the fruit of my life to consist of all goodness, righteousness, and truth. Help me to be very careful how I live and to live wisely, separate from the world. And, to above all understand what YOUR will is and to be empowered to do YOUR will  - nothing more and nothing less. I give thanks always for who You are to me and all the great and wonderful things you have done in my life. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Be sure to pray in the Holy Spirit throughout the day, listening to His response to this powerful prayer you prayed. He will always answer “yes and amen” to His Word. Be blessed friend, I can’t wait to hear how God levels up your life through your willingness to be obedient.

I like to close each teaching with an invitation to salvation for anyone that has not yet welcomed Jesus into their life. Maybe you’ve read this and felt a pull on your heart. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins and were raised to life again. I confess you as Lord over my life. Take my life and do something with it. And I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name amen.”
